1. Download from http://download.osmand.net/rawindexes/
2. Unzip
3. Rename: Eg Austria_europe_2.obf → Austria_europe.obf
4. Move files into root directory of osmand on the phone

Partly obsolete

Setting a timeout to save battery in Osmand is obviously not possible. Workaround:

1. Auto screen off:
   1. While in Osmand, pressing „Recent Apps“ soft key or Home button will re-activate Android screen timeout
   2. App „Screen Timeout“ from lhoer0 can set normal Android TO to 5 s
   3. Osmand → Settings → Navigation settings → Activate Screen → 5s will activate screen when necessary, but screen is switched off automatically again.
   4. Android switches screen on when battery charging starts or ends. But becaus Osmand is only running in background, the normal TO works
2. Additional manual Screen off: Bildschirmsperre (Screen Lock) from Simi Studio can position a screen off button only on Omand
3. Don't forget to activate fligt mode
